What are loan schemes in India for women to start their business?

Jessica Henry

In India, the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises development organisations, various State Small Industries Development Corporations, the Nationalised banks and even NGOs are conducting various programmes including Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDPs) to cater to the needs of potential women entrepreneurs, who may not have adequate educational background and skills. The Office of DC (MSME) has also opened a Women Cell to provide coordination and assistance to women entrepreneurs facing specific problems.

There are also several other schemes of the government at central and state level, which provide assistance for setting up training-cum-income generating activities for needy women to make them economically independent. Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has also been implementing special schemes for women entrepreneurs.

In addition to the special schemes for women entrepreneurs, various government schemes for MSMEs also provide certain special incentives and concessions for women entrepreneurs. For instance, under Prime Minister’s Rozgar Yojana (PMRY), preference is given to women beneficiaries. The government has also made several relaxations for women to facilitate the participation of women beneficiaries in this scheme. Similarly, under the MSE Cluster Development Programme by Ministry of MSME, the contribution from the Ministry of MSME varies between 30-80% of the total project in case of hard intervention, but in the case of clusters owned and managed by women entrepreneurs, contribution of the M/o MSME could be upto 90% of the project cost. Similarly, under theCredit Guarantee Fund Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises, the guarantee cover is generally available upto 75% of the loans extended; however the extent of guarantee cover is 80% for MSEs operated and/ or owned by women.

Some of the special schemes for women entrepreneurs implemented by the government bodies and allied institutions are provided below.

Hidden talents have found their path and many women are making their own mark in startup industry. Indian govt and banks are always ready to be your support with their encouraging schemes.

Under Bank of India’s, Priyadarshini Yojana scheme, no collateral security is required for loans up to Rs 5 lakh and for small-scale industries (SSI) units and there is a relief of interest rates from 0.5% to 1 %. Similarly, Oriental Bank of Commerce’s Orient Mahila Vikas Yojana scheme, there is upto 2% concessions and no collateral security for loans upto Rs.10 lacs and in case of SSI no collateral security required up to Rs.25 lacs.. Some banks like State Bank of India (SBI) and Canara Bank have special cells for women entrepreneurs. Besides consulting, these cells provide training, counseling and at times avenues for showcasing and marketing their products.

They give a more realistic view of the businesses and often give references of similar businesses and the issues they were facing initially. Canara Bank has took the lead by establishing the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) for Women. The bank has also opened exclusive branches for women — the Mahila banking division — the first of its kind in the banking industry

In today's world, women are breaking stereotypes and increasingly focusing on carving a niche for themselves in the competitive world of business. Amazingly, this ambition is also permeating into the lesser developed regions of India. Especially for women entrepreneurs in rural areas, there is a pressing need for adequate funds to kick-start their businesses and arranging for the capital is often a major challenge. To encourage women entrepreneurs and promote them Indian government has made many financial/subsidy schemes available such as Stree Shakthi package, Annapurna, Cent Kalyani, Dena Shakti, Sidbi Mahila Udyam Nidhi, Udyogini, and many more. Even several banks have also come up with their special schemes and now are offering women entrepreneurs loans at fair interest rates such as lendingkart. You can also apply business loan at Lendingkart Mobile App for instant business loan.

Facebook Ban In China Because of this Reason

Facebook was banned in 2009, after the biggest terrorist attack in China, so-called July 2009 Urumqi riots [1]  , which happened in Xinjiang Urumqi.  More than 200 peoples died in this attack, and most of them are innocent citizens, including two of my schoolmates. Did Facebook do the right thing? I don’t know, but we must ensure that such a terrorist attack will never happen again in Xinjiang province. That’s why we banned Facebook.
